But we're not quitters who lose out. Oh, no!
We'll stay with it and SURVIVE, trusting all the way.

Jonah Got a Little Wet

This week was water night at Camp Character--and what better night to talk about Jonah?  Remember the story of Jonah?  If you need a refresher, click here to watch a short video.

Jonah decides his way is better than God's way and he runs in the opposite direction from where God wanted him to go.  When we decide to disobey God, you can be sure that things are not going to go well for us, as Jonah demonstrated perfectly.  He ended up on a ship in a huge storm, then he ended up in the middle of the storm, and ultimately, he wound up in the stomach of a huge fish.  I have a feeling after three days in the stomach of a fish, Jonah was thinking God's plan was looking pretty good.

Jonah decided to obey God and when he did, things started to go a little better for him.  Good things happened--the people of Nineveh turned from their evil ways and followed God.

God may not be asking you to go to a far away country and preach, but he does want all of us to obey him.  Obey what you know His word teaches--be honest, kind, loving, truthful, and obedient to your parents and those in authority over you like your teachers.  Deuteronomy 30:9-10 says:  "The Lord will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors,  if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul."  When we obey God and keep his commands, things will go well for us.  I don't think any of us need to be swallowed by a big fish to remember this important lesson!  Let's learn from Jonah and choose to obey God.

We had a fun, WET night playing water games.  If you didn't get to join us, we missed you!  We only have two weeks left of Camp Character so be sure to join us next Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.--and bring a friend!

Miss Dianne
