So exactly who is your neighbor? Ask any of the campers at Camp Character this week and they could tell you exactly who your neighbor is. Counselor Susie told the story of the Good Samaritan explaining how the priest and the Levite were each traveling along when they came to a man who had been beaten, robbed, and left for dead. Neither of these men stopped to help, in fact, they went out of their way NOT to help! Soon a man, a Samaratin, passed by the wounded man, and although he wasn't a Jew like this man was, he realized that this man needed someone to take care of him. This man went out of his way to be what Jesus would describe a neighbor. Campers realized that there are many people who cross our paths every day that we are to be a neighbor to and show kindness--a new student at school, an elderly neighbor who would welcome a visit and a helping hand now and then, a child who is lost in the store.
The question is: Are YOU a good neighbor? Show kindness every time you have the chance!
If you missed camp last night, be sure to join us next week--and bring a friend!
