This week's lesson was about faith and the influence we can have on other people because of our faith. Joshua and Caleb went with 10 other spies into the Promised Land. Although they saw giants, they also saw a land that had grapes so big they had to carry them back on poles...now those are some BIG grapes!
Joshua and Caleb chose not to focus on the negative things about the Promised Land but instead focused on God's great power to protect and lead them. They chose to see things with eyes of faith instead of what their physical eyes saw.
We did a really cool science experiment last night testing Tim's (the youth helping with our game challenges) faith in me that I would keep him dry! Although there was a glass of water turned upside down over Tim's head, he stayed completely dry! He had enough faith in me to believe that I would keep my word--and I did! If you want to try it at home, click here for the directions. You might want to do it outside JUST IN CASE!
How do you influence other people? I hope you encourage them to look at the positive side of things. Romans 8:28 says that God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. That should encourage us to know that no matter what happens, God is going to work it all out for good.
The most important way we show our faith is when we ask Jesus into our lives to forgive our sins. Although we were not alive when God sent Jesus into the world, and we didn't see Jesus die on the cross for our sins, we have to have faith and believe that what God says is true. When we trust in Jesus to forgive our sins, we also receive the wonderful gift of his Holy Spirit that comes to live inside of us and one day we will get to be in heaven with him! Have you taken that step of faith to trust Jesus to forgive your sins? Why not do that today?
See you next week!
Miss Dianne
