Week 11 began with a yummy treat--Hershey's candy bars. Hmmm....not everyone got a BIG candy bar. Some people only got little ones. Miss Susie tested the campers to see if everyone would be happy with what they got--that's what contentment is. She told us the story of Peter and Silas and how even though they were in PRISON, they were singing and joyful. They were "content" even in a very difficult situation. We can learn a lesson from them! Be happy with what you have. Don't look at someone else and think, "Gee, I wish I was like them." Jesus has given each of us just what we need. Let's learn as Peter did that no matter where we are, we will be content!
Week 10 was a stormy Wednesday evening, perfect for acting out the story of Peter and the disciples being out on the sea when a huge storm blew in rocking the boat back and forth. Suddenly, they looked and saw something walking across the water. They thought at first that it was a GHOST! Suddenly Jesus called out to them and said, "Don't be afraid. It's me!" Peter decided to be bold and said, "Lord, if it's really you, let me come out to you on the water." Jesus said, "Come." Peter started walking then suddenly became frightened, looked down at the water, and started to sink! Jesus reached out and took him by the hand and brought him into the boat to safety. There are times when we have to be bold:
- Facing friends at school who try to get us to be disobedient
- Facing the pressure to do things you know you shouldn't do
- Obeying God's word
- Telling someone about Jesus
- Walking down the aisle at church to be saved
- Taking the step of commitment to be baptized
We can be like Peter and take a bold stand for Jesus--just be sure to keep your eyes on Jesus!
See you next week for our very last meeting of the season. Don't miss out. It will be a FUN night!!!
Miss Dianne
